The Union movement has always stood for the needs of the community and of the individual in an endeavour to create a more just society based on principals of individual dignity and integrity attained in the workplace collective and practiced in the community and in the home. SKA TV is both ideologically and practically aligned with this stance.
Also in line with our charter, ‘The Union Show’ creates a unique opportunity for working artists to develop both their professional skills and knowledge as trainers; and it is also a training opportunity for emerging artists, where they can experience and participate in a community broadcasting environment, identify and express social issues significant to them, and create works that are widely distributed and thus act as a vehicle for social change.
Not less important is our vision of ‘The Union Show’ as a means of countering the image expounded that by commercially interested media that identifies the idea of collective bargaining with skullduggery, thuggery and sensational historical tales of murder and corruption. SKA TV is about community. Community is by nature a collective operation.
The Union Show is broadcast at 7pm on Tuesdays on Channel 31.
